Themes Present in Eveline


The major theme that is present in Eveline, is that escape is desired, but not achieved. This is shown by Eveline because she wants to leave her life, but in the end, at the threshold of escape, she decides against it, and stays with her life as it is.

Another theme that the present is that the people of Dublin are paralysed, and unable to move away from their problems. This also adds to the first theme that was stated, as because the characers are paralysed, they are unable to escape, even though they want to
